Over the past few years, CPHS has adopted a “Portrait of a Graduate”. A Crown Point High School graduate has always been unique, but a group of teachers and students have outlined the core values that should be developed in all graduates. Crown Point High School identified these values and called them the 6 C’s. They are:
Two Portrait of a Graduate scholarships are offered to the students that best exemplifies all 6 of the C’s; however, achieving all 6 may be difficult for most, applications will still be accepted as long as you can document meeting 4 of the 6 C’s.
The Bulldog Underdog scholarship is being offered again this year. The scholarship will be awarded to a graduating student at Crown Point High School who has experienced a negative or hard knock experience and has rebounded after this negative experience and has aspirations to continue his or her education.
Ted was very active in Art and Photography while attending CPHS as well as his time after. It was Ted’s wish to become active in the newly formed CPHS Alumni Association but was unable to do so before his passing. With that in mind, his family has decided to start the Ted Smith Art Scholarship.
His wife and daughter will be a part of selecting the recipient of the art scholarship from applications received from CPHS students. The awarded student selected by the Ted Smith Art Scholarship committee and will require a digital artwork portfolio be submitted.
The Nolan R. Gold Scholarship was established in 2017 to honor the memory of Nolan R. Gold, a graduate of Crown Point High School in 2015.
This scholarship will be awarded to a Crown Point High School graduating student that will be attending any four-year college or university pursuing any bachelor's degree.

May of 2025 school year will be our fourth year (Jay Robert & Carrie Mayden) offering this scholarship in memory of our father, Dr. J. Robert Mayden. He was a graduate of Loyola University Chicago College of Dental Surgery in 1954.
Robert enlisted in the United States Air Force and was stationed at Lowry Air Force Base in Denver, Colorado. Robert and Carole returned to Northwest Indiana, and he established his Crown Point dental practice in 1956.
He was an avid Notre Dame Football fan, attending his first game in 1934 and regularly attending games for over 50 years. He had a passion for boating and walleye & perch fishing. He spent many years at Marble Head, Ohio on the shores of Lake Erie enjoying those activities.
Education for his five daughters, two sons and grandchildren were always very important along with a strong work ethic.
May of 2025 school year will be our fourth year (Jay Robert & Carrie Mayden) offering this scholarship in memory of our mother, Carole Rothermel Mayden who was a 1950 CPHS graduate.
